MSAT Admission

Eligibility Requirements

• Prerequisites

  Upon entering the program, you must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (B.S. in Rehabilitation Sciences is recommended for 91·çÁ÷ students) and have earned a grade of C or better in all prerequisite courses.

  All prerequisite coursework must have been completed within the last 10 years.

  You do not need a bachelor's degree or have completed all prerequisite courses to apply to the program, but you must provide proof of both before you can enroll. If you have four or fewer prerequisite courses, you may be admitted, provided you complete these courses with a C or better before starting the MSAT program.

  If you completed your undergraduate education outside of 91·çÁ÷, you must email your official transcripts to the MSAT program director once you have received your bachelor's degree and completed any remaining prerequisite courses. Your transcripts must be forwarded to 91·çÁ÷ 91·çÁ÷ for verification of graduate status.

• Prerequisites for non-91·çÁ÷ undergraduates

  If you were not a 91·çÁ÷ undergraduate student, you must complete a Prerequisites Worksheet and upload it to the ATCAS application portal. This is used to determine if the courses you have taken (or are planning to take) outside of 91·çÁ÷ align with our prerequisite courses.

  Please include the catalog course description and grade (if completed) for each course. If you're unsure if a course aligns with one of our prerequisite courses, check .

  If your institution or course is not on this list, please email your prerequisite worksheet to the MSAT program director, who will respond to inform you which courses do or do not align with our prerequisites and/or if additional information (i.e., a copy of the course syllabi) is required to make that determination.

• Immunization, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screening

  After formal admission to the MSAT program, you must provide proof of immunizations and complete a criminal background check and drug screening by August 1. You must submit your immunization records before beginning classes. Our program director will contact you with more details regarding where to upload immunization documents and how to complete the background check and drug screen.

  The MSAT program enters into affiliation agreements with multiple healthcare facilities and schools throughout the state. These agreements provide MSAT students and faculty with authorized access to facility resources and patients. In response to stipulations contained within one or more of these agreements, all students admitted to the program must provide proof of certain immunizations, clear a criminal background check, and pass a 10-panel drug screen. 

  These policies and procedures have been mandated by the MSAT Program to more effectively protect the safety and well-being of the patients, clients, and residents of those facilities. They are fully supported by the Department of Athletic Training and Occupational Therapy and MSAT faculty.

  Students are responsible for all expenses related to updated vaccinations and diagnostic tests. The cost of the criminal background check is approximately $74 (may be higher for international students) and approximately $65 for the 10-panel drug screen.

International Student Applicants

Before reviewing our international applicant requirements, please review all other eligibility requirements. We also recommend visiting the International Student and Scholar Center website, which is designed to assist all 91·çÁ÷ international students.

• Step 1: 91·çÁ÷ Enrollment

  Apply to the MSAT program through the ATCAS. The priority application deadline is December 15 for the following fall semester.

  Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis if there are still available slots. Students are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline to ensure they receive full consideration for all scholarships.

  
  ATCAS charges $96 for the first program you apply to and $55 for each additional program. Students with financial challenges may be eligible for a fee waiver for the ATCAS application fee; learn more about the waiver and .

• Step 2: Transcript Evaluation

  For any coursework completed outside of the United States, you must have each course credit evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation service. Most students use , but any of the agencies listed on the following webpage are acceptable.

• Step 3: English Proficiency and Language Requirements

  English Proficiency Testing
  If your native language is not English or you did not complete a bachelor's degree at an institution whose primary language of instruction was English, you will be required to submit an official English Language Proficiency score from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo. Submitted scores must not be more than two years old.

  • The minimum TOEFL score for full admissions is 563 (paper-based), or 85 (internet-based), with a minimum score of 17 in each section.
  • The minimum IELTS score for full admissions is 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each section.
  • The minimum Duolingo score for full admissions is 105.

  
  Send your official English Language Proficiency scores directly to ATCAS. If you took the Duolingo test, you must request that Duolingo send your score report directly to the Office of Graduate Studies.

  Don’t meet the language requirement?
  If you do not meet the minimum scores on an English Language Proficiency test, you should either retake the same test or consider taking one of the other two test options in an attempt to achieve the minimum scores. Whichever conditional route you choose, we highly recommend investing in an English tutor before taking a second English Language Proficiency test.
