Request Security Review
To safeguard personal information and uphold data security standards, Weber State University requires a Software Risk Assessment for any new AI tools or cloud-based AI services being considered for use. AI tools often rely on large-scale data processing, which introduces unique risks, especially when handling student records, financial information, or FERPA-protected data. Before implementing or purchasing an AI solution, users must complete the Software Risk Assessment form. This form helps the Information Security Office (ISO) quickly evaluate potential security, legal, and compliance concerns specific to AI technology. Once submitted, your request will be reviewed by ISO and, if needed, routed to Legal and Purchasing for further assessment. This process ensures that AI tools used at Weber State align with university policies and safeguard institutional and personal data. Starting with a risk review not only protects the university, it also supports responsible, ethical adoption of AI on campus.
