Bridge Program

Weber State’s Department of World Languages & Cultures participates in the , offering upper-division language course work for high school students. These three-credit courses extend over a full academic year of high school and are taught in partnership with university faculty. Bridge courses are now offered in Chinese, French and Spanish. Bridge Students Interested in Completing a Minor in French or Spanish


If you took one Bridge course in high school and passed it with a C or higher grade, you need to take: 

  • FRCH or SPAN 3000 
  • FRCH or SPAN 3060 
  • FRCH or SPAN 3160 
  • and one more upper-division elective course

If you took two Bridge courses and passed them with a C or higher grade, you need to take: 

  • FRCH or SPAN 3000 
  • FRCH or SPAN 3060 
  • FRCH or SPAN 3160

If you took three Bridge courses and passed them with a C or higher grade, you need to take: 

  • FRCH or SPAN 3060 
  • FRCH or SPAN 3160

Bridge students may also qualify for an Associate of Arts in Chinese, French or Spanish and an Institutional Certificate of Proficiency. You must meet with a department advisor to declare your Associate of Arts, Institutional Certificate, and/or minor, and to apply to receive credit for the lower-division courses you bypassed.
