
Coursework Track Portfolio Guidelines
Students will compile a portfolio of signature assignments that highlight key academic accomplishments during their graduate program. These may include final projects, research papers, lab reports, and other significant deliverables that demonstrate mastery of course content and professional readiness.
Each Portfolio should include the following components:
- Cover Page
- Table of Contents
- Signature Assignments, with each entry including:
- Course Title and Number
- Assignment Title
- Brief Description (1–3 sentences)
- One Page Portfolio Reflection Essay
Assignments should be arranged in chronological order by course.
One Page Portfolio Reflection Essay Instructions
Length: Approx. 250–350 words.
Instructions: Review the Computer Engineering Program Learning Objectives (PLOs) listed below. Select at least three of these objectives and briefly discuss how you have improved in these areas.
In your reflection, be sure to:

Explain how you will use these skills in your future career or studies.

Refer to specific assignments, projects, or papers in your portfolio that prove you’ve met those objectives.
Program Learning Objectives:
- Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics beyond those explicitly addressed in coursework.
- Design systems, components, or processes at a graduate level to meet specified technical, performance, and contextual requirements.
- Analyze, synthesize, and present specialized engineering information clearly and effectively, selecting appropriate technical language, visual formats, and communication methods to convey results.
- Integrate emerging technologies, advanced tools, and interdisciplinary knowledge to develop and implement effective engineering solutions.
Submit your Portfolio and Essay to Dr. Gardner, the ECE Graduate Program Director, at least two weeks before graduation.
Once your Portfolio is approved, he will notify Rainie Ingram that she can complete the Thesis/Report/Portfolio Approval requirement in CatTracks. Your CatTracks must reflect 100% for your official diploma to be awarded. This occurs after all grades have been posted and all requirements have been fulfilled.
