I look forward to my meetings with my mentee. It's a great relationship. I gain a lot and learn about the gaps that exist on campus and the services in our community. Every week she gets on me to get my homework done too! It's been a wonderful relationship where it feels like it’s not just a mentorship but a friendship.

The beauty of being a mentor is that you never stop learning. Being a mentor is a great way to support your community.

Neftali Castaneda, peer mentor alumnus
The main thing that has been meaningful to me through mentoring is assisting my mentees in making connections and creating a game plan so that they can achieve their goals. I love it when they reach out to me and notify me that they have been accepted to the program they were trying to get into, or they have had stress reduction and are doing great. It is meaningful that I was able to have just a small part in supporting them on their journey.

Kimber Simons, faculty mentor
Mentoring is an honor. To support mentees to know that there is someone who cares about them, assure them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges and help them feel like they matter. I want to help mentees cultivate the courage to be imperfect and allow themselves to be vulnerable. I want them to feel that they are enough. Being a mentor provides me fulfillment and satisfaction of helping others and contributing to their personal growth and professional development.

Juancarlos Santisteban, staff mentor
It is an awesome job that will help you gain new skills that will help you succeed in your academic and professional life.

Becoming a mentor has helped me not only learn more about what I want to do in my professional career but also learn more about myself.
