Program Details
The Weber State University Master of Social Work (MSW) will prepare you for advanced clinical practice with many different people and systems in a wide variety of settings and contexts. Graduates are charged with commitment to the development of human well-being, to social justice, and to the alleviation of poverty and oppression. Our MSW graduate program is full time with courses taught in a hybrid format. MSW students attend classes in person at the 91风流 Ogden campus and complete coursework online. Students should expect to take a minimum of 15 credits each semester in addition to their field practicum experience (15-20 hours per week).
Our curriculum focuses on:
- The needs of individuals, families, and communities in northern Utah.
- Harm reduction.
- Clinical practice skills relevant to Utah’s growing Latinx population.
- The underlying value of service to individuals, families, groups, communities, organizations, and institutions.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Social and economic justice.
- Lifelong learning.
Social work’s history is closely linked to many of the world’s greatest human challenges – poverty, mental illness, drug use, crime, disabilities, aging, individual and family crises. The profession has been built on principles that include specific focus on social inequalities and injustice. As a result, social workers serve the needs of society’s most marginalized and at-risk individuals and groups.
Our graduates benefit by having a program that meets current and future service demands, is responsive to student and community needs and creates stackable credentials for an established career pipeline.
