Mailing Information

Boxes with Mail

Weber State University Receiving and Distribution provides services to meet all of your Weber University mailing needs. We process all of the University's incoming, outgoing and intra-campus mail, provide consultation on large mailings, and offer ground and express shipping, through all  major carriers.

Campus Mail Pickup Times

Delivery and pick-up times start at 10:30 a.m. each week-day morning. Mail is typically taken to Receiving and Distribution between 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for further processing.

Domestic Mailing

Make sure mail is properly addressed with a complete “To” and “From” address. If you are using windowed envelopes, be sure that the name and address are the only things showing in the window. Otherwise, the automated machines at the U.S. Post Office may misread the piece and send it back to you. No paperclips, folding clips, or CDs may be inside letters and envelopes without incurring extra cost and class change requirements (i.e., Large Flat Envelope changing to Ground Advantage Retail because specifications were not reached).

USPS picks up mail from Receiving and Distribution between 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every day for “same day delivery”.  If mail is received after this time frame, you can expect the mail will be picked up the following business day (i.e., late Monday picked up Tuesday afternoon by USPS).

Mail Containing Incorrect Address Information

If you do not know the correct address, please indicate (cross it out) and place the mail piece in your outgoing receptacle so that your route driver can return it to its origin as soon as possible. Incoming mail not bearing an identifiable address will be returned to the sender.

Changing Address

Please keep your University Mail Code (UMC) current in Banner in order to receive intra-campus mail without error. If you don't know your UMC you can provide us with your department name and we can assist you further (please call campus extension 6019 for assistance). If you move from one department to another, be sure to change your UMC in Banner. You may call Payroll at campus extension 6031 to be certain that your address is listed correctly in Banner. You must notify all off-campus correspondents and subscriptions of any address changes so that there will be no delay in your mail and package delivery.

Personal Mail

Personal mail must be sealed and bear the proper postage.  Receiving and Distribution cannot meter personal mail. If personal mail arrives without proper postage, it will be sent to the post office with an ‘undeliverable’ status. The post office will then process that mail to the return address listed on the mail piece.

Personal (i.e., postage stamp) mail may be sent out with domestic mail (i.e., First-Class mail). Please insure your stamped and business reply mail are separate from your intra-department mail and your domestic mail. Failure to do so may run the risk of extra department postage fees incurred by potential mix-ups (i.e., prepaid / stamped letters imbedded into large piles of First-Class mail that is still in need of being processed).

Personal mail will be picked up on week-days by the U.S. Postal Service between 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. along with your domestic mail.

Your Return Address

A properly formatted return address is ESSENTIAL for all outgoing mail. Include the department name and the proper Zip+4 (which is your UMC.)

A properly formatted return address is ESSENTIAL for all outgoing mail.

Each 91风流 department has a unique mailing address. Each mailing address includes the street address of the building in which the department is located and the department’s building identifier (i.e. - SU for Shepherd Union) and the ZIP+4 code (the ZIP code followed by the department’s four-digit UMC, i.e., 84408-3605). This will enable companies using the U.S. Postal Service address correction/verification programs to correctly identify Weber State University’s Zip+4 codes. It will also ensure that mail received at Receiving and Distribution will be promptly sorted and delivered to you.

Your organization (Weber State University)

Your street address and building identifier, including room number (i.e. - 3730 Skyline Pkwy RD 113)

Your City, State and Zip combined with your UMC (i.e. - Ogden, UT 84408-3605)

Example of correct formatting:

Weber State University
3730 Skyline Pkwy RD 113
Ogden, UT 84408-3605

Please use your department’s unique addressing location so that mail is not delayed due to insufficient information (i.e., do not use Receiving and Distribution’s address parameters for your mailer).

Business Reply Mail

The Business Reply Mail (BRM) service enables mailers to receive return First-Class mail by paying postage only on mail that is returned. The mailer guarantees payment of the appropriate First-Class postage plus a per piece handling charge (assessed by the U.S. Postal Service). All BRM postage and handling charges are billed back to departments. BRM design specifications are very detailed and must be exact. A Business Reply Mail (BRM) address format typically includes a "BUSINESS REPLY MAIL" legend, a First-Class mail permit number, a postage endorsement, and the complete address of the permit holder.

Tracking a package

Before contacting Receiving and Distribution for package tracking there are some useful steps that you can take to ensure accurate information and help in a timely manner.

If you have purchased the item through PawPlace for your department on a company cost code your order will come with a tracking number located under the “Invoice” section of your Purchase Order under Notes/Attachments.

When purchasing items from Amazon you will receive a tracking number beginning in TBA (i.e., Amazon Tracking - TBA320707342212, USPS tracking - 9225677855654456557823). Make sure to check the package status on a web search browser (i.e., Google, Bing) to see the status on your package. If it does not read as “Delivered” or “Delivered to agent”, your package is most likely still in transit in a “Out for delivery status”.

If the above steps have been met (and your package has already been delivered) and you still require further assistance, please call Shipping & Receiving and provide them with the following data:
