New Faculty Experience 2025

The New Faculty Experience is a yearlong program designed to welcome you to your new home and acclimate you to the various support systems Weber State offers for your personal and professional development. Your experience will kick off with the New Faculty Retreat at Homestead Resort.

Welcome to your from the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). We are very excited to partner with you through your first year as faculty at Weber State University. To support you in this process, we offer several courses that will provide resources and education to prepare you to engage your students successfully in the classroom and online.

Check out this welcome video from Jamie Wankier Randles, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, New Faculty Experience Fellow:

You have been invited to two courses:

  • The CETL through your Weber email (the video above has details). Make sure you accept the invitation and get started on the necessary assignments before you join us at the New Faculty Retreat or before the semester starts.
  • ACUE's Effective Teaching 101: This asynchronous self-paced course helps new and veteran faculty set a positive tone, build immediate rapport with their students, clarify course expectations, engage students, and use classroom assessment techniques to monitor student learning. Suitable for faculty who teach in person or online, this self-paced course is divided into two sections.
    • You should receive an email from ACUE by mid-July and should complete this short course before the New Faculty Retreat in August.
    • The university is investing in you with this professional development course that will help you design effective and powerful courses.
