Browning Presents! is an engaging series proudly hosted by the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities at Weber State University. Offered to the community through the generous support of the Browning Foundation, the series has been dedicated to enhancing cultural richness along the Northern Wasatch front since 1978. With a blend of entertainment and education, Browning Presents! serves as a vibrant platform for fostering connections across a range of disciplines. Join us as we celebrate diverse voices, spark meaningful conversations, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the arts and humanities.

Indigenous Indigena

A rare musical encounter featuring the legendary R. Carlos Nakai (Native American flute) and members of the ARTolerance Ensemble: Udi Bar-David (cello), Shinjoo Cho (bandoneon), and Joseph Tayoun (Middle Eastern percussion). Blending traditions from Indigenous America, Tango, Arabic rhythms, and Hora, this performance celebrates unity through sound and honors the timeless voice of Native American culture.

Silvia Moreno-Garcia Writing Genre Fiction in the 21st Century event

Tressie McMillan Cottom

Award-winning writer, sociologist, and cultural critic Tressie McMillan Cottom is celebrated for her profound yet personal ideas and the dynamic accessibility of her analysis. Dr. Cottom’s first book, , led to appearances on The Daily Show, NPR’s Marketplace and Fresh Air, and has been name-checked by Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and activists like The Debt Strike Collective.

Bartunde Thurston

Baratunde Thurston tells stories of interdependence through our relationship with nature, each other, and technology. He is an Emmy-nominated host, writer, public speaker, and proud Earthling. His newest creation is , a YouTube podcast focusing on the human side of the A.I. revolution. He is also host and executive producer of the PBS TV series , creator and host of the podcast, and a founding partner and writer at . His comedic memoir, , is a New York Times best-seller. In 2019, he delivered what MSNBC’s Brian Williams called “one of the greatest talks of all time.”

Tommy Orange

TOMMY ORANGE is a graduate of the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts. An enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, he was born and raised in Oakland, California. His first book, There There, was a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize and received the 2019 American Book Award. He lives in Oakland, California.
