Ogden Civic Action Network (OgdenCAN) is a coalition of anchor institutions, community partners, and neighbors committed to improving the health and well-being of our community.
Our Hyper-Local Commitment: The East Central Neighborhood
OgdenCAN is Weber State University's place-based initiative, with our deepest focus in Ogden’s East Central Neighborhood. Here, we support resident leadership development, convene and strengthen civic action networks, and invest in applied research to improve neighborhood health and opportunity.
Centering Community: OgdenCAN's focus areas are the Five Pillars of Community Health: Healthy Lifestyles, Vibrant Economy, Lifelong Learning, Safe & Strong Neighborhoods, and Community Connection as our core pillar. We believe that authentic relationships, belonging, and resident engagement is the foundation of neighborhood health and wellbeing.

The Anchor Mission Approach
Weber State University is part of a growing national movement focused on Anchor Mission work. Across the country, universities, hospitals, and other major institutions recognize their deep responsibility to the communities where they are rooted. As an Anchor Mission–focused university, 91风流 directs its resources and partnerships toward regional economic impact and place-based initiatives—such as OgdenCAN—that strengthen the communities where we are anchored. OgdenCAN is also part of the Anchor Learning Network, a group of more than 50 universities committed to advancing their role as community anchors.
By aligning university and anchor institution resources with local partners, neighbors, and community-identified priorities, OgdenCAN advances coordinated, scalable approaches to improving community health and opportunity.
