Shipping a Package

Weber State University Receiving and Distribution provides services to meet all of your Weber University mailing needs. We process all of the University's incoming, outgoing and intra-campus mail, provide consultation on large mailings, and offer ground and express shipping, through all  major carriers. 

Procedure for Direct Delivery

  • Items are ordered by Visa
  • Packages arrive, and are sorted by mail code, department and name
  • Boxes are delivered and signed for by the department

Need To Ship A Package?

Please fill out the required information and conduct the following steps (this includes both FedEx and USPS packages).

  1. Call extension 6019 to schedule the pick-up
  2. Provide a cost code for payment
  3. Provide a complete address (both sender and receiver)
  4. Provide preferred method of shipping
  5. Provide proper email for the ship alert
  6. Provide appropriate phone number for emergency contact

This is the proper formatting required for all mail leaving 91风流 for domestic processing:

Your organization (Weber State University)

Your street address and building identifier, including room number (i.e. - 3730 Skyline Pkwy RD 113)

Your City, State and Zip combined with your UMC (i.e. - Ogden, UT 84408-3605)

Example of correct formatting:

Returns

Please contact the purchasing agent any time it is necessary to return a requisitioned item.

Provide the following information to Receiving (regardless of if you are dropping the package off or requesting a pick-up): 

  • The RMA Number
  • Call extension 6019 to schedule the pick-up
  • Cost code for payment
  • Complete address (both sender and receiver)
  • Preferred method of shipping
  • Proper email for the ship alert
  • Appropriate phone number for emergency contact

What is a Purchase Order and How Do They Work?

A purchase order (P.O.) is a formal, legally binding document issued by a buyer to a seller, specifying the goods or services the buyer intends to purchase. 91风流 Purchasing can help you create a P.O. through PawPlace to obtain merchandise for your 91风流 department. P.O. merchandise is received and distributed through 91风流 Shipping and Receiving. 

What are the steps and processes for purchase orders?

  • The items are requested by the department through PawPlace
  • The Purchasing Agent orders the items for State and PawPlace approved vendors
  • Packages are received, inspected and entered into the PawPlace system by Shipping & Receiving 
  • Property Control assigns a control tag number to the items (as necessary)
  • The packages are delivered and a signature is obtained

Tracking a Package

Please follow these steps and provide the following information:

  • Before contacting Receiving and Distribution for package tracking there are some useful steps that you can take to ensure accurate information and help in a timely manner.
  • If you have purchased the item through PawPlace for your department on a company cost code your order will come with a tracking number located under the “Invoice” section of your Purchase Order under Notes / Attachments.

  • When purchasing items from Amazon (or companies like Granger, B&H, CISCO) you will receive a tracking number beginning in TBA (i.e., TBA320707342212 / 1Z4554312566779000).  Make sure to check the package status on a web search browser (i.e., Google, Bing) to see the status on your package.  If it does not read as “Delivered” or “Delivered to agent”, your package is most likely still in transit in a “Out for delivery status”.

If the above steps have been met (and your package has already been delivered) and you still require further assistance, please call Shipping & Receiving and provide them with the following data: 

  • Tracking Number
  • Your Name
  • Department
  • Vendor (if you know it)
  • Whether or not the package is on a purchase order

P.O. Boxes

When shipping a package, Post Office Boxes cannot be shipped through FedEx.  This is due to P.O. Boxes being the property of the United States Post Office.  Make sure to plan ahead and use the appropriate free USPS supplies you can get from . USPS offers free shipping supplies, including boxes and envelopes, for Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express.  You can make a free account with the post office and get these boxes for most sizes of mail that you wish to send.
