WHY WEBER STATE

My mom went to Weber State, and she spoke highly of the institution. When I decided to go back to school to finish my bachelor's degree, it was the obvious choice, and not only because of how well Weber State works with non-traditional students. 

WHY HR MANAGEMENT

I was a trainer in a call center, and training is part of HR. I started taking the courses and fell in love with Human Resources.

SUPPORTIVE CARE

So many of the professors want students to succeed. They aren't there to make impossible tests and they don't pride themselves on being "tough", with people getting Cs in their classes. The professors work with students, help them understand the concepts, and are available to help when needed. 

PROFESSOR IMPACT

Rachel Child was my absolute favorite from my first class with her. She is incredible. She understands that some students are just there because they have to, and that some students are there because they really want to, and she talks to both kinds in her lectures. She's inclusive, and she's funny. She genuinely cares about her students. 

ADVICE FOR OTHER STUDENTS

I would say that they need to give themselves grace, they won't be perfect! Also, take your time. I did half time school because full time was too much, and that's ok! It's ok if they take a little longer to finish if it means that they're not burning themselves out. When burnout happens, coursework and life in general suffer, so slow down if you need to. It's not a race. 

WHAT'S NEXT

I just started a new job at Holy Cross Davis, and I hope to be there for a while! I'm excited to continue learning in a less formal atmosphere and look forward to helping people help people.
