Marketing, 2025

WHY WEBER STATE

I chose Weber State because it was close to home. My dad graduated from Goddard years ago and had a great experience, so I felt confident in my decision to attend Weber State. I liked the idea of smaller class sizes and the online options, which fit with my busy schedule. Growing up in the Ogden area, I had heard good things about Weber State my whole life, so choosing it just felt right.

WHY MARKETING

In high school, I participated in DECA and FBLA, which are business and marketing clubs. I always gravitated toward the marketing events more than anything else, and I eventually realized I was actually good at them. I did well in the competitions and enjoyed the work I was doing, so I knew I wanted to study marketing when I got to Weber State.

SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT

What stands out to me the most about my time at Weber State is how supportive the faculty and staff are. The Goddard School does an amazing job helping students connect with professionals and find opportunities, whether that's for a job or internship. I also loved the small class sizes because they made it easy to build real relationships with professors. I don't think you can get this level of genuine support at most universities, and my experience at Weber State has truly set me up for success.

FACULTY IMPACT

Clinton Amos has made the biggest impact on me during my time at Weber State. I remember walking into his class on the first day, and he already knew everyone's name. His classes go beyond teaching what you need to pass his exams. He teaches real-world lessons and provides real experiences that I have been able to use outside of school. Clinton genuinely cares about the success of his students, and I have always felt supported by him. His dedication and the effort he puts into teaching have made a special impact on me.

WHAT'S NEXT

After graduation, I am starting a real estate licensing course with the goal of getting my license in early 2026. I plan to begin working full-time as a real estate agent and build my career in the industry right away. I am excited to take this next step and apply everything I've learned here at Weber State to my career.

ADVICE FOR OTHER STUDENTS

My advice for someone just starting college is don't be afraid to ask for help. Your professors are there to support you, and they genuinely want you to succeed. Reaching out when you need help makes a huge difference. Additionally, staying organized and ahead of your work makes all the difference when learning the material. If you do work last-minute, you will likely be stressed and won't learn as deeply as you would if you had more time. Building good habits early on will set you up for success throughout your college experience.
