• GPA: Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for all college-level work.

• CNA or EMT Certification: Current proof of certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or a current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required of all accepted 4-semester RN program applicants. 

  • A copy of the certification or registry expiration date is required and must be provided prior to the start of the 4-semester RN program. Must be active on day one of the program and cannot be expired.

    • Contact the Utah CNA Registry for questions concerning CNA certification.

    • For questions concerning the EMT certificate, contact the .

  • Course completion without certification is not accepted.

  • Military personnel with a medical background (such as documentation on a DD-214 and within the last 2 years), please contact an advisor.

International Students:

• International Students are allowed to enter the program, as long as the prospective student meets the established application requirements.

• The ADN Department requires one of the following English proficiency scores for International students to be submitted with their application. Your test date must be within 2 years of the semester start date for which you are applying.
  • TOEFL iBT: 83 or higher
  • IELTS academic: 7 or higher
  • Duolingo English Test: 120 or higher
• All international students should check with the International Student admission's Office for any additional requirements.
• International students will be required to attend the 91·çÁ÷ Ogden or 91·çÁ÷ Davis cohorts.

Prerequisite Courses, Support Courses, and Bonus Courses

Refer to the  for additional general education requirements that must be completed for the Associate of Science (AS) degree.

Prospective students who want to transfer course credits from other institutions will need to visit the Course Transfer Guide. Students wanting to transfer from other nursing programs must apply to the 4-semester RN program and compete for a position. Accepted students will be required to complete all 4 semesters. Prerequisites are considered on a course-by-course basis. 

Applicants who do not meet the minimum application requirements will not have their applications reviewed by the 91·çÁ÷ and Advancement Committee. Unqualified students will not receive re-applicant credit for the following application cycle.

3. Notification

Acceptance and declination notifications will be sent to the provided email address approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the application deadline. 

Campus placements are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis in response to the acceptance email. A Weber email address and W# are required to submit your response and request a specific campus. To help speed up the process, it’s recommended that applicants apply to Weber State University before receiving an acceptance or declination notice.

Didactic courses are offered face-to-face or online, depending on the selected campus. All students are required to attend lab and simulation on campus. All clinical rotations will be completed along the Wasatch Front. 

• For the cohorts at 91·çÁ÷ Ogden, 91·çÁ÷ Davis, Bridgerland Technical College (Btech), and Davis Technical College (Dtech) campuses, students are expected to attend class and lab, sim, or clinical 2 to 3 days per week.
• The Hybrid cohort completes didactic courses online and attends campus 1-2 days per week for lab, simulation, or clinical.
• This does not include exams that are taken outside of class time. All exams for the ADN Department must be taken in person at an approved testing location.

The ADN Department places group clinical rotations in clinical facilities in Utah, from Logan to Salt Lake City. Capstone rotations can be completed across the state of Utah. Students are responsible for transportation to all classes, simulations, labs, exams, and clinical activities.

Cohort Sizes:

The 4-semester RN program admits 32 students in each of the 91·çÁ÷ Ogden, 91·çÁ÷ Davis, and Hybrid cohorts (96 students total). Students are admitted three times per year (288 students per year). Campus choice is given on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission numbers are subject to change due to clinical site and faculty availability. 

Additional Information:

• Students in the ADN Department are advised to limit employment to no more than 20 hours per week in order to support academic success. 
• Students are responsible for costs incurred when enrolled in courses that necessitate travel to community facilities.
• Additional program and facility requirements may incur additional costs to students. Please review Student Documentation Requirements in the Annie Taylor Dee School of Nursing Student Handbook. These requirements are mandatory.

All admitted applicants will be required to complete a mandatory background check, drug screening, and physical exam. Students are also required to have personal health insurance. Admission to the program is contingent upon submission of a satisfactory background check, a negative drug screening, a physical exam, and documentation of personal health insurance.

• If a background check reveals a history of criminal actions, or the drug screen reveals the presence of controlled substances (prescription or non-prescription), the applicant understands that they may not be allowed to begin or remain in the ADN Program and will not be entitled to any refunds of tuition dollars or other fees.

• Currently, Medical Marijuana Cards are not accepted by all of our clinical partners and, therefore, will not be accepted by The School of Nursing. Any applicant testing positive for Marijuana, even with a Medical Marijuana card, will not be cleared to start the program.

• Complete Student Documentation Requirements can be found in the Annie Taylor Dee School of Nursing Student Handbook. These requirements are mandatory. Costs associated with requirements are the students' responsibility. Some costs may be covered by 91·çÁ÷ student health services.
